International Student Scholarships

The University of Tulsa offers the International Leadership Scholarship to well-qualified international applicants. This is a merit-based scholarship based on the student’s academic background as well as extracurricular and leadership experience.

The award is offered to selected freshmen applicants at the time of admission. Students must submit a completed application for admission with all the required supporting documents. No additional scholarship application is needed and all qualified applicants are automatically considered. Award values vary from $2,000 to $16,000 USD. The initial award is for one year and is renewable as long as the student maintains full-time enrollment and a 2.0 cumulative GPA at The University of Tulsa. Eligible students may renew up to three times for a total of four years of study. Early applicants are considered favorably. If outside scholarships received, combined with TU scholarship funds, exceed the student’s basic charges of TU tuition and TU room and board we reserve the right to adjust your TU awarded funds.

Richard Hojel Scholarship

The Richard C. Hojel scholarship is a full tuition scholarship to study petroleum engineering in our internationally recognized petroleum engineering program. It is awarded once every four years to a student of Mexican citizenship, with priority given to applicants residing in Mexico. All qualified applicants will be considered; there is no additional application form. The Hojel Award is a gift to the University of Tulsa by the Hojel and Meinig families in memory of Richard C. Hojel, a distinguished alumnus and generous friend of the university.

Esphanhanian Scholarship

The Nasser Esphahanian Memorial Scholarship is an endowment scholarship awarded once every four years to a student of Iranian citizenship. The scholarship was established by the Esphahanian family to advance crosscultural understanding between the people of the United States and the people of Iran. All Iranian undergraduate applicants are eligible for consideration, and there is no separate application process.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Scholarship

Applicants to TU who are in the process of completing or have earned an International Baccalaureate diploma are eligible for this award, currently valued at $3,000 per year. This award is granted for a total of eight semesters, with maintenance of a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Performance and Art Talent Scholarships

The University of Tulsa also offers scholarships for demonstrated performance and talent. These scholarships are awarded by academic departments (e.g. Art, Music, Theatre) following an audition or evaluation of performance and are renewable according to department guidelines.

Transfer Honors Scholarship

New transfer applicants who were members of Phi Theta Kappa at a two-year college will be considered for this scholarship award. Eligibility is based upon a cumulative 3.5 GPA and at least 48 hours of transferable credit. This scholarship is valued at $22,000 per year and is renewable with maintenance of a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.

Honors Program

International applicants who have demonstrated exceptional performance in high school and have taken the SAT and/or ACT may be eligible for joining TU’s Honors Program.

Consideration for the Honors Program requires submission of a Special Programs Application, which must be received by no later than January 15th.
